We believe that Chronicles of a Retired Hitman has a great premise and an exciting world to explore, so we want to know how did you come up with this idea? Did any films, series, or books inspired you? If so, which ones?
There were many movies that inspired me to write this. That’s why I wrote it, as an homage to all the hitman movies I loved watching growing up. Like Grosse Pointe Blank, A Long Kiss Goodnight, and John Wick.
Why choosing the series format over the feature?
I chose to write a series because I felt that there was too much to these characters to fit into one film. I’ve written a movie before, and in my opinion, writing a series makes it easier when trying to build these characters and their lives.
How much time did it take you to write this screenplay?
I came up with the concept about six or seven years ago, before my passion for screenwriting came into fruition. In December 2022, I started writing it, and then took a break to focus on another project. Chronicles of a Retired Hitman just wouldn’t escape me, so in May 2023, I started writing it again.
If you could choose any actor for your lead, who would it be and why?
The actor I’d choose to play John Doe is a tough question. The first name that comes to mind is Tyler Posey. He has the ability to keep a blank face and show no emotion with it still being good acting, along with playing the “what is going on” character. He’s very talented, has the knowledge on how a series works, and is the right age and physique I think of when I imagine John Doe, the ex-hitman.
You left us wanting to know more about John’s adventures! How much of the series have you already planned out?
I have the first 8 episodes fully written and copyrighted, which I titled Book I, Volume I, and I’m currently plotting out Book I, Volume II.

Hunter Freedom is an American actor and screenwriter from Fernley, Nevada. Born in Reno, he grew up loving movies and dreaming of being an actor. He performed throughout high school and eventually discovered he also wanted to write films as much as star in them.
At the age of 20, after moving to Florida with his twin brother Roman, he wrote his first screenplay titled The Club Can’t Handle Us. He has since pursued a growing screenwriting career, with standout projects like Chronicles of a Retired Hitman.
